Swarved Mahamandir: moden architecture with ancient spiritual roots

Swarved Mahamandir is among the world’s largest meditation centres, located in Umaraha, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh in north India, close to the ancient Buddhist town Sarnath. With a seating capacity of more than 20,000 practitioners at once, this spiritual marvel is about to be finished. Known as the spiritual capital of India, Varanasi is one of the oldest cities in the world. Once finished, Swarved Mahamandir would be the most prominent landmark of the city.
Meditation under the holy guidance of Sadguru is the key to spiritual growth. Throughout the year, spiritual seekers of all religions keep flocking to Swarved Mahamandir. Be it Buddhist monks or businessmen, students or retired people, all come here for experiencing the bliss of deep meditation.
Every year multiple mega events of Vihangam Yoga are held here, attracting hundreds of thousands. The mega event Varshikotsav, the annual spiritual congregation marks the anniversary of establishing Vihangam Yoga Sansthan under the holy guidance of Sadguru Sadafaldeo Ji Maharaj. This 2-day event, in particular, hosts few hundred thousand people at once from all across the globe. A large Vedic Hawan program is also held, where 5100 Hawan Kunds are lit together. The Sadguru’s Amritvani, Sant Pravar Shri Vigyandeo Ji Mahraj’s Swarved Kathamrit, Shri Naamdeo Ji Maharaj's discourse, Asan-Pranayam-meditation training are among the prime attractions. This year, it is being observed on the 7th and 8th of December, Saturday and Sunday.
The largest among the six prime centres of Vihangam Yoga, the Swarved Mahamandir is dedicated to the Holy Scripture Swarved. The inner walls of this 7-storey Mahamandir would be covered with entire 4000 couplets of Swarved engraved in fine Makarana Marble, the world’s very best variety of marble. The whole temple would be bright white, a perfect amalgamation of modern architecture and spiritual vision.

The Roots:
The true science of spirituality, the science of God Realization, the Brahm Vidya is known as the source origin of all knowledge that exists, it is the super set encompassing all. It is the science of union of a soul with the universal, Supreme Soul. It is called 'Yog' in Sanskrit language. Known by many other names in different scriptures, this eternal path exists at all times. Still, if one asks, how old is Yog? It is as old as God and as old as the soul. Both being beyond the purview of time. The path of Yog is truly eternal. It is not proprietary of any human being, modern or ancient. It is given to mankind by an eternal entity, the Sadguru, who appears in our world time to time, educates the deserving souls and emancipates them from the vicious cycle of death and rebirth (grants them Moksha). Every guru, or teacher, is not Sadguru. Sadguru is no human being, but a different entity altogether which works via the most evolved Yogi at times or just assumes a physical frame himself. This is the manifestation of the Sadguru. The Sadguru manifests Himself for only one purpose – liberating the souls from all kinds of sufferings by imparting true spiritual knowledge, the knowledge of realizing God.
His Holiness Anant Shri Sadguru Sadafaldeo Ji Maharaj happens to be the greatest Yogi of modern times who, after several years of deep, conscious meditation under the direct supervision of the eternal Sadguru, re-established the lost science of Yog. In year 1924 AD He took a unique oath of granting Moksha to at least 100,000 souls and established the Sadguru Sadafaldeo Vihangam Yoga Sansthan. Authorized as the Sadguru, He worked towards this pious and herculean tasks throughout India and spiritually, beyond India. He established Ashrams at places where He underwent meditation or unique spiritual experiences. Among all the ashrams He established, five are known as the most divine Ashrams. These Ashrams are known for their exceptionally high spiritual energies, where a practitioner readily gets into very deep meditation.

The Swarved:
A very special one among these Ashrams is the Shoonya Shikhar Ashram at Himalayas. In His meditation cave there, Sadguru Sadafaldeo Ji Maharaj wrote the first hand spiritual experiences that He underwent in the state of oneness with the Supreme. The divine scripture, known as ‘Swarved’, would give spiritual seeker the most accurate and elaborated knowledge of deepest and raremost spiritual secrets, explained in very simple comprehensive language. The word ‘Swarved’ is derived out of two words of Sanskrit language: Swah and Ved. In Vedic texts, Swah denotes the Supreme Soul. It also denotes the soul. Ved means knowledge. So Swarved is the one through which the true knowledge of Soul and Supreme Soul is achieved. Written as nearly 4000 couplets in simple Hindi language, Swarved is a rare combination of experience and expression. Sadgurudeo used to call Swarved as the conscious light of His heart.
A highly regarded scripture in the spiritual world, Swarved is no ordinary book. It is not a collection of excerpts out of other Scriptures. Nor is it created out of anyone’s personal intellectual exercise. It is the direct divine knowledge which a Yogi experiences. These experiences are beyond the capacity of speech or other organs. In fact, even expressing those experiences in a right understandable way is impossible without Divine Help. It is only the Sadguru who could do it. More about Swarved can be learnt here.
Once again, Swarved is not just a book. It is a spiritual experiment. By a devoted reading, spiritual vibrations are created in the body. Our consciousness rises upwards, pure thoughts evolve. A soul instantaneously starts heading towards the true spiritual path.
Swarved is the base of spiritual education. Swarved is the very heart of Vihangam Yoga. Swarved Kathamrit of Sant Pravar Shri Vigyandeo Ji Maharaj, which elaborates Swarved in a very mesmerizing way, coupled with musical singing of Swarved Couplets, has created sensation among the spiritual seekers. It has taken the message of Swarved and the very need of spirituality to the common man. Overall, Swarved is the ultimate tool to elevate the spiritual education level of mankind, which would in turn elevate the overall state of inner peace and inner bliss of every individual. This is the tool that would lead innumerable souls to the path of emancipation.
Swarved Mahamandir was hence the requirement for not only providing a platform for the meditation practitioners but also to establish the message of Swarved in the most emphatic way.

The Temple:
Laying its foundation in year 2004, the visionary spiritual master His Holiness Sadguru Acharya Shri Swatantradeo Ji Maharaj said that in this temple so much spiritual energies have been induced that even after thousands of years a Yogi can experience the divinity here. This Mahamandir, meaning the Great Temple, is going to spiritually awaken of the world masses and would pave way for world peace and prosperity. Sant Pravar Shri Vigyandeo Ji Maharaj added that this place is meant for the true welfare of mankind and everyone contributing to it would be doing a real great service to humanity.

Structure:
Swarved Mahamandir is seven storeys high – and stands 162 feet tall. The ground floor measure 291 feet by 221 feet. Supported by nearly 260 pillars, the structure has more than 300,000 sqft ground area. The walls would be covered by pure white Makarana marbles. Makarana marble is rare and the most premium variety of white marble, used in several world famous structures like the Taj Mahal, American White House, Sydney Opera House, Kolkata Victoria Palace and many others. In total more than 600,000 sqft marble would be used. Top two floors would house a rare collection of the personal belongings and manuscripts of H.H. Sadguru Sadafaldeo Ji Maharaj.
The structure has two regular lifts inside and two capsule lifts. The wood work would be of seasoned teak wood that would last hundreds of years. Beautiful carving would be done by the India’s best craftsmen. The entire temple would be well ventilated such that it stays cool even in summers.
